Celebrating 国家的女孩 & 妇女参加运动会 through a Wall of Song

Since 2019, the ISSSSC and 歌曲之墙计划 have been inviting athletes, fans, students and community supporters to sing FEELING GOOD—the song made famous by Nina Sim一个—as an anthem of solidarity and a call to action for women’s sport and a more equitable, racially just community.

February 2, 2022, marks the 36th annual 国家的女孩 & 妇女参加运动会 (NGWSD). This celebration inspires girls and women to play and be active, to realize their 全功率. The confidence, strength and character gained through sports participation are the very tools girls and women need to become strong leaders in sports and life. 

Join us for the February ISSSSC Sport Conversation for Change where we will share 专家提倡 & activists insights on NGWSD and its relationship to and significance 第九条. And to celebrate our 菠菜网lol正规平台 Women Athlete Honorees.

We will also share our "Words TO Action'' collaborative effort with the Wall of Song Project "Feeling Good", a social action initiative, created by 菠菜网lol正规平台 Art Lecturer Mel 一天: http://wallofsongproject.com/

加入 San José Museum of Art, San Jose Jazz, the Institute for the Study of Sport, Society & Social Change (ISSSSC), and the 歌曲之墙工程 as we explore the power of art, sport and the rituals of collective singing to create positive social change.

In celebration of 国家的女孩 and 妇女参加运动会 (NGWSD), this online, multidisciplinary event will feature an interview with Grammy-nominated jazz powerhouse Ledisi, a solo by special guest soprano Danielle Marie and Dr. Akilah Carter-Francique, PhD (ISSSSC) hosting a Sport Conversation for Change, focusing on the importance of NGWSD to “inspire girls and women to play … and realize their 全功率.” Every一个 is invited to add their voices to the 歌曲之墙工程 by singing FEELING GOOD—the song made famous by Nina Sim一个—as a call-to-action, an anthem of solidarity, mental and physical wellbeing for all, and advocacy for women’s athletics and a more equitable, racially just community.
